Summary of Today’s Episode:

On our Monday Insider, we’ve been talking about our grassroots advocacy team, the Homeopathy Action Team, or HAT for short, who work on building relationships with Congress at the Federal level. This week, we are going to highlight one of many incredible stories from one of our State Captains.

To start, I need to tell you that there are 2 kinds of people in this world: The ones who say, “Someone ought to do something about it, but why should it be me?” and the ones who say, “Someone must do something about it, then why not me?” Which kind of person are you? Well, Tiffany said, “Why not me?” Tiffany is our brilliant State Captain in Utah who didn’t even realize the influence she could have. Nobody had stepped up to lead the Utah HAT team, and she very tentatively volunteered. Whenever I met with her she would always tell me how nervous she was about making a mistake, and that there was probably someone better than her. We all kept encouraging her, telling her that she had such an important role and that she could fulfill it and that we would help her along the way. And boy did she do amazing work!

She started just with the baby steps we give everyone. She took time out to do her training each month. Soon, that was completed, and she had her first meeting with both her Senators’ offices and her Representative. We also had a vacancy in a nearby district which she offered to take on until we found a CL. Her meetings went well, and their staffers wanted to learn more and meet with AFHC leadership. That’s when I got called in to join a meeting with her as well as our Grassroots Director, Laura Held. The meetings went well. Meanwhile, Tiffany began to connect with local homeopathy businesses who became very supportive of our work.

Before she knew it, Tiffany had invited the offices she’d been building a relationship with to join her for a tour of a homeopathy business, and to all our surprise, not one, not two, not three but ALL FOUR offices agreed to do a site visit on the same day and time. This is nothing short of a miracle for busy congressional offices. The visit was scheduled for only 30 minutes, but lasted two hours! We were amazed. The staffers from these offices began to huddle to discuss what they could do to support our work. Tiffany, in her humble sincere attitude, was able to cut through the political nonsense that often burdens congress and connect with her staffers personally. She made a huge difference, and we have allies.

There are so many other stories like Tiffany’s. Keep in mind that Tiffany didn’t know how to do any of this on her own, but she had a desire to find her power. We trained her, guided her, provided her with templates, answered her questions, got on the phone with her, but she made it happen in the best way she knew how, and it was perfect. That’s all we ask. Come as you are, learn a bit more, and let yourself blossom into the compelling advocate that only YOU can be!

We are talking so much about the HAT team because it is our most precious asset and the greatest chance we have at winning our fight to protect homeopathy in the USA.

OK! That’s it for this week. Join us next week as we talk about one dynamite Congressional lead who braved the storm to talk to her congressperson!
