- March has been a busy month for Americans for Homeopathy Choice Action! Our Homeopathy Action Team (HAT) members have held almost 200 meetings on Capital Hill with their representatives, and more are being scheduled!
- We have been asking for an Appropriations bill that would include language which would better focus the FDA’s enforcement activity on products labeled as homeopathic which do not meet existing standards.
- The new FDA guidance is too broad and has already resulted in the removal of safe, genuine homeopathic medicines that meet all existing standards.
- Because an appropriations bill only lasts one fiscal year, our long term goal is to work with Congress and the FDA to create a legal and regulatory framework for homeopathic medicines through legislation that would ensure both consumer access and safety.

Hello, I’m Paola Brown, president of Americans for Homeopathy Choice Action, back with you for our monthly Insider report where we bring you up to date on what’s happening in the world of homeopathy.
March has been a busy month for Americans for Homeopathy Choice Action! We have been working hard on the grassroots front with the Homeopathy Choice HAT Team. You may remember that our HAT team seeks to raise awareness and bring forth the consumer voice in policy decisions on homeopathic medicine. HAT members work individually or as a small team to build a relationship with their legislators’ offices.
Everyone in the homeopathy community is indebted to the amazing volunteers who have worked countless hours preparing for their meetings this past March. We set a record of almost 200 meetings on Capitol Hill (with more still being scheduled!).
What was the ask this year? Our immediate goal is to help protect access to the full range of homeopathic medicines through Appropriations language that will better focus the FDA’s enforcement activity on those products labeled as homeopathic that fail to meet existing standards.
The enforcement priorities outlined in the FDA’s new guidance for homeopathic products are overly broad and ambiguous which has already resulted in the removal of safe, genuine homeopathic medicines that meet all existing standards.
Although an appropriations bill would only last 1 year, as all appropriations bills are for their respective fiscal year, our ultimate goal is to work with Congress and the FDA to ensure both consumer access and safety by implementing an appropriate legal and regulatory framework for homeopathic medicines.
This will bring the United States up to the standards of other countries such as Canada which moved forward with its efforts in the late 1990s in order to regulate homeopathic medicines in a comprehensive, clear manner that best ensures access and safety.
